The CAPPA 18 Hour Childbirth Educator Training


Ready to become more proficient when offering childbirth education? Take the first step towards becoming a Certified Childbirth Educator with CAPPA.  This eighteen-hour training meets the first requirement of your CCCE program and prepares you to work through the steps for certification. This course is designed to improve the skill base, knowledge and perspectives on childbirth for perinatal professionals.

The CAPPA 18 Hour Childbirth Educator Training Class includes the CAPPA Childbirth Education Manual and resources to enhance your practice.


The training covers the following topics:


·         Goals/Roles of the Childbirth Educator

·         Teaching Adult Learners

·         Developing an Engaging Curriculum

·         Innovative Teaching Activities

·         Stages of Labor

·         Labor Support Techniques

·         Interventions and Cesarean Births

·         Making Decisions and Communication

Why Certify as a CCCE?

Certified Childbirth Educators (CCCEs) provide evidence based information to the community, families and professionals. Childbirth Educators can be found working in a variety of settings to offer their services to families. Families can find them working as public health educators, hospital/community educators, in care providers’ offices and in private practice as educators.


CAPPA Childbirth Educators are non-clinical professionals. CAPPA Childbirth Educators do not dispense medical advice, diagnose medical conditions, or prescribe/administer medications or treatments of any kind. Educators do not offer information that directs families to act against medical advice.


How to Certify as a CCCE:   



Faculty: Eron Cardinal: I am the creator/owner of Naturally You Childbirth, Conscious BirthWork and VT's Original Pregnancy & Baby Expo's annual event. I am a Vermont native who grew up in Jericho, spent most of my adult life in Williston and have just moved to Peacham (summer 2017). I have been teaching and attending births since 1999. I am a CAPPA certified childbirth educator and doula. I am also a CAPPA faculty member and Childbirth Educator Trainer. Being a birth worker is my calling and my passion. I am a firm believer that LOVE WINS!



Cost: Two-day, 18 hour, $400 Training tuition must be paid in full no later than 21 days before the training begins. Late payments may be charged a $25 late registration fee.




Refunds: Registration fees are non-refundable except for the following conditions: Naturally You Childbirth reserves the right to cancel a training due to low enrollment up to 2-weeks before the training start date. If the training is cancelled due to low enrollment, faculty illness, faculty family emergency or weather conditions, all fees will be transferred to another Naturally You Childbirth training within a 12-month period or refunded. If a registrant cancels at least 3-weeks prior to the training start date, attendee has the option to transfer to another training with Naturally You Childbirth within a 12-month period. There will be a $50 transfer fee if cancellation is less than 3-weeks prior to training. No-Shows are not eligible for registration transfers or refund. Please avoid making non-refundable travel arrangements until training has been confirmed, 2-weeks prior to start date. Only one transfer of registration is permitted. If a training is not attended within the 12 month period, all monies are forfeited.
