CAPPA Certified Postpartum Doula: CPD


Want to be inspired and empowered to begin or enhance your perinatal career? Train with the Childbirth and Postpartum Professionals Association, an international certification organization for Doulas, Childbirth Educators, and Lactation Educators.  CAPPA trainings are designed to educate and equip the contemporary perinatal professional for a successful career in a fun, supportive, and collaborative environment.  Trainings are evidence based and comprehensive, and are designed to appeal to all learning styles.  Students will enjoy engaging and interactive instruction, with practical and real-world scenarios.  CAPPA instructors have in-depth knowledge and follow standardized curriculums to ensure the highest quality training and most comprehensive perinatal education for CAPPA Certification programs.  As one of the first and most comprehensive perinatal organizations in the world, CAPPA is respected for its longevity, stability, and its commitment to excellence in both education and unsurpassed student and member support. 


The CAPPA Postpartum Doula Training


Ready to become proficient when offering professional postpartum support? Take the first step towards becoming a Certified Postpartum Doula with CAPPA.  This eighteen hour workshop meets the first requirement of your CPD program and prepares you to work through the steps for certification. This course is designed to provide a foundational skill base, knowledge, and perspectives on professional postpartum support for perinatal professionals, as well as providing training for those seeking certification as certified postpartum doulas with CAPPA.


Offering 18 CAPPA Contact Hours. Nursing contact hours potentially available on request.


The CAPPA Postpartum Doula Training Class includes the CAPPA Postpartum Doula Manual, and covers the following topics:

·                 Practical application of Scope of Practice, ethics, and integrity

·                 The Postpartum Doula as Educator

Faculty: Laura Nance is the Senior Advisor of Postpartum Programs for CAPPA and the co-developer of the CAPPA New Parent Educator program. Laura has been involved in the perinatal world since 2000 and is active in her community as a CAPPA certified New Parent Educator, Childbirth Educator, Lactation Educator, Pregnancy Fitness Educator, Postpartum Doula, and Labor Doula. She has been a trainer with CAPPA since 2005 and trains for the postpartum doula program, lactation educator program, and new parent educator program. She lives in the foothills of NC with her husband of over 25 years, her 2 almost adult children, one dog, and 3 cats (some say the cats are her favorite family members.) She enjoys travel, trail running, concerts, and reading. She is very passionate about educating and inspiring professionals and families alike.

Tuition: 450.00 50.00 late fee added to all registrations after March 9


Details of Refund Policy: There are no refunds except upon cancellation of the class by the instructor, Laura Nance. Registration may be transferred to another training with Laura Nance within 12 months of the original training date with approval from Laura Nance and by paying a $50.00 transfer fee. Failure to transfer to another training within the 12 month period results in forfeiture of all monies paid to the instructor, Laura Nance. Non-refundable travel plans should not be made until the course has been confirmed by the instructor 14 days from the training date. If the training is cancelled prior to 14 days before the training date, Laura Nance is not responsible for any expenses incurred if non-refundable travel plans are made. In the event of inclement weather or other issues that make it impossible for Laura Nance to hold the training, a make-up date will be scheduled. Laura Nance is not responsible for any travel expenses incurred.
